English Translation

I submit myself to Dharma Shastha,

1. The ornament of works done by great poets,
The swan in the lake of the mind of poets,
The brother of Lord Ganesha and Subrahmanya,
And the God who blesses us with salvation.

2. The god who has a face as pretty as the full moon,
The God whose feet are worshipped by poorna and Pushkala,
The god who shines fully as ocean of mercy,

Viswa karthareesa vidhrutha jeeva pasai,
Saswath bhakthirasthu thava krupa mathrena.

When you are doing the blessed Aswamedha Yajna,
What is the need for any other web of Dharma,
And when one is perplexed by the rope of life of doer of the world,
By having stable devotion to you and getting only your grace.

2. Ganga pramukha theerhacharansai kim,
Anga sosha mathrena karanai,
Mangala aalaya Sri Krishna Vasudeva,
Madhavedhi jihwaa vakthi yadhi

What is the need of taking bath in,
Ganga and other sacred waters,
Which would only lead to thinning of your limbs,
If the tongue keeps on telling Madhava,
Krishna and Vasudeva in sacred temples.

3. Kruchradhi sakala upavasai kim,
Krutha Prayaga nithya vaasai kim,
Vajra hastha madha banjanaaya,
Govardhano udhara Sri Krishna dasyenaiva.

What is the need for punishing penances like fasting,
What is the need of living daily in Prayaga (Allahabad),
Except doing service to Krishna who lifted Govardhana
And subdued great pride with his strong hands.

4. Pancha Vahnyaa thapasaa kim,
Pranayama, jitha manasa,
Kanja bhava Janaka kalitha Gopala Bala,
Leelaa Sudha sindhu viharanenaiva,

What is the need for penance in between five fires,
And doing Pranayama for controlling the mind,
Except telling that cowherd boy who is the producer of nectar,
And being in the nectar like lake of sports of him.

5. Ajamiladhi Samudhara nithya,
Ajitha sarva loka sarana,
Gaja Rajendra bhaya harana divya charana,
Vijaya Gopala Sri Gopika Ramana.

Oh God who gave salvation to Ajamila,
Who helps those who have failed all over the world,
Oh God whose sacred feet removed the fear of the king of elephants,
Oh Vijaya Gopala who is the darling of Gopis.

Charanam

1. It removes the fear of death forever,
And is the way to attain salvation as told in Vedas.

2. It is the divine chant that makes sinners pure,
And it is the great way of life to reach Lord Shiva.
3. What is the need for Thapas,
What is the need for fire sacrifice,
What is the need for great fame,
What is the necessity of great pleasures.

4. It can be chanted either with devotion or with fear,
Aimed at getting salivation or great pleasures.

5. It can be sung during bath, drinking,
While lying down or while traveling,
While giving charity, while singing, while giving charity.

6. While in danger, while in wealth and while all times,
In the heart do not think anything other than Hari's feet.

7. It is the antidote for birth, death and all disease,
And is sung by Sanaka and other great sages.

8. Victory to Rama, Achutha and Ramana,
Narayana and Padmanabha.

Pallavi
Oh mother who likes to sit on lotus flower,
Who likes to always play Veena,
Who has a heart always filled by joy,
And who lives on the earth.

I surrender to her is who happy with her pretty feet,
Who is in the hearts of poets who are happy with her,
Who is on the lotus and is surrounded by gems.

Oh mother with two lotus like eyes,
Oh mother who loves lowly people who surrender to her,
Oh pure one who has a face like the full autumn moon,
Oh Saraswathi, one who sits down, Whose character attracts great devotees,
Oh Goddess who is always after knowledge, Who is always good,
Oh Goddess who is blessed with two great busts, who is white in colour,
Oh Goddess who shines holding a collection of books in her hand.

She who killed Asura called Dhoomra Lochana,
And she who always protects all the countries.

Please destroy the sins committed by me,
Oh Merciful one, Oh Protector of Dharma,
Oh Darling of Shiva who lives in the heart,
