1. Manikya maya mayunna mandira madhya vasini, aliveni,
Shri Shambu nathanu ni Rani, vara miyyave girvani mayamma.

2. Amboruha sambhava hari shankara akhila muneendra poojitha, athi,
Gambheera deena rakshani khada, moralanu vina leda?

3. Oh Amba ninnu nammina na pai intha paramuga mela, vinu,
Shyama Krishna nutha chintha dirchi samrajyam ivvave vegame.

English Translation

Pallavi

Oh Goddess of all world,
Save me pretty fast

Anupallavi

Oh destroyer of all pains, in this world,
Is there any one greater than you?

1. Oh Goddess who lives in the temple built of Manikhya,
Oh Goddess with tresses like a bee, Oh queen of Lord Shiva,
Please give me boons, Oh Goddess who is Divine, Oh my Mother.

2. Are you not the one who is worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva?
The one who is remarkable and the one who protects the oppressed.
Did you not hear my repeated requests?

3. Oh mother, why this indifference towards me who has believed you,
Oh Goddess praised by Shyama Krishna, leave out the thoughts and grant me salvation.

1. Bala neeve gathiyani nine chala nammina na pai,
Parakela daya cheyya neekidi mela,
Divyamba kaladivarini sad guna sheela kiravani,
Devi neeya niradaveni tRiloka janani devi,
Maheswari Bhavani.

2. Amba mukha nirajita shata dara bimba,
Rakshitha devatha tavamma natanija sutha guha,
Herambamba, Shyamalamba, Bimbadhari,
Gauri.kadamba vihari, amba kambu kanthi hima shaila,
Vruksha palika devi Balambika Amba.

3. Vani rema vanditha rudrani ni sathevaru,
Kalyani Shyama Krishna nutha keiravani,
Veena vinodhini Sri Chakra kona nivasini,
Girvana vandhitha padaravinda Shiva,
Devi Kathyayani Amba

Goddess with fish like eyes,
Come to protect me, please come,

Come as a wish giving jewel to all who serve you.

1. On me who has completely believed you, who is the Bala as my only help,
Is it difficult for you to shower your mercy on me,
Oh divine mother, the total embodiment of all virtues,
Oh goddess with cloud like tresses, Oh goddess who is the mother of three worlds,
Oh the greatest goddess, Oh Bhavani.

2. Oh mother whose prettiness is hundred times more than the moon,
Oh mother who protects the devas, who is worshipped by Ganesha and Subrahmanya,
Oh mother of Ganesha, Oh dark coloured mother, Oh red lipped Goddess
Oh white coloured Goddess who roams in the garden of Kadamba trees,
Oh Goddess whose neck outshines the conch, Oh protector of trees of Himalayas,
Oh mother and Oh Mother Bala.

3. Goddess worshipped by Lakshmi and Saraswathi, the consort of Rudra,
The do-gooder, the goddess worshipped by the black colored Krishna,
She who enjoys Veena, She who lives in the angles of Sri Chakra
She whose lotus like feet is worshipped by devas, the consort of Shiva,
The daughter of sage Kathyayana and the mother.

Sri velayu madhura nelakonna,
Chidrupi sri Meenakshamma

1. Anatha Rakshaki anethi birudu nee kandi kadha,
Loka nayaki dharalo Krupa nidhi,
Neekanna rvaramma Mayamma,
Kannakku latalam vitrina pai,
Kadakshi nchave vegame,
Chinna vedanalu nulu dirchi,
Nannu rakshinchuthakki idhi samayamamma.

2. Kadamba kanana Mayuri,
Neeve Kada amba shankari,
Chanda dhanava mada kanditha mrudani,
Shuka pani, Kalyani Sada,
Nee dhyanamu seyyuvariki,
Samrajyamu chidananda rupudayunna,
Sri sada shivuni rani madhura vani.

3. Uma rema Shyama Krishna nutha,
Giri Kumari nee samanamevaru,
Brova baramma jagat sakshi,
Meenakshi thamasamu chesidhe,
Neekidhi nyayama inta jagalene,
Vemaruni pada Darshanamu labhinchi,
Nee ma talu vinnaga vachittanamma.

English Translation

Goddess, Except for your lotus feet,
What else is there for me to depend.

Anupallavi

Oh God Meenakshi who has a divine form,
Who delights the rich city of Madurai.

Charanam

1. Are you no known as the protector of the helpless?
Oh chief of the world, Oh treasure of mercy,
Better than you no one is there, my mother.
Oh Goddess who enjoys chewing betel leaf,
Please see me with side long glances quickly,
And remove all my problems even if small,
And this is the time to protect me mother.

2. Oh peacock like goddess who is in the forest of Kadamba trees,
Are you not my mother, the consort of Lord Shiva,
Are you not the earthy one who killed Rakshasa called Chanda,
Oh Goddess who holds a parrot, Oh Goddess who does only good always,
To those who meditate on you, you give them salvation,
Oh queen of the divine Sada Shiva, Oh goddess who has pleasant voice.

3. Oh Uma, Oh Rema who is prayed upon by the black Krishna,
Oh witness of the world, please come to save me,
Oh Meenakshi if you delay it very much,
Does it appear just to you? Why this drama?
I have been blessed with the sight of your feet,
And I have come to hear your words.

Oh daughter of the icy mountain, protect me,

Oh mother who lives in the middle of Meru mountain,
Oh goddess with fish like eyes

1. Oh Goddess with golden body and with lotus eyes,
Oh daughter of sage Mathanga and one who is praised by
Brahma, Vishnu, Indra, devas and great sages,

2. Oh goddess with the face of the enemy of lotus (moon),
Oh Goddess who neck is adorned by pearls and gems,
And who is a wish giving tree to her devotees.

3. Oh White goddess who is the sister of the black Krishna,
Oh daughter of the mountain who is the greatest goddess,
Oh goddess with blue flowing hair, Oh goddess with sweet words, Oh Lalithe.

Goddess who enjoys music who has no equals in this world,

Oh queen of the God who decorates himself with snakes,
In this world who else is there, golden idol.

2. Moon faced one, grant me boons,

Goddess With jasmine like teeth,

2. Indumukhi Karuninchamani ninnu nentho,
Vedukontini nayandhu jagelanamma,
Mariyada kadu dayavathi nivu.

3. Sama gana vinodhini guna dhama,
Shyama Krishnanutha sukha Shyamala devi,
Neeve gathi, rati kama kamyadha kavave nannu.

English Translation

Pallavi

Goddess with eyes like lotus petals,
Goddess who is daughter of Himalayas,
I always depended on your lotus like feet,
Give me all that is good, mother Meenakshi.

Anupallavi

Do not be indifferent, oh giver of boons,
You are the only goddess of earth,
The ancient one, the one who holds a parrot,
She whose hair locks is like bees,
And the Goddess who is queen to Sada Shiva.
Charanam

1. Are you not famous for fulfilling the wishes of those,
Who come to you with wants, is it a burden for you mother,
Who is renowned for mercy? I am not able to bear the delay.

2. Oh Goddess with moon like face, I have several times requested you,
To show pity on me and you mother are hesitating to do it,
And this is not respectful as you are a merciful one.

3. She who enjoys singing of Sama Veda,
She who is the piled up hill of all virtues,
She who is worshipped by black Krishna,
Oh pleasant black coloured Goddess,
The Goddess who is liked by Rathi and Manmatha,
You are my only hope, please protect me.
