Shanmukha Shodasam
[12 Stanzas Prayer to Lord Subrahmanya]

Bhava thapa vimochana Thath parane,
Mama manasa kamitha dayakane,
Shiva sambhava bhaktha jana priyane,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 1

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who is interested in freeing us from the sorrow of birth,
Who gives all that our mind wishes,
Who is the son of Shiva and loves his devotees.

Pramdhathipa nandana, dheera mathe,
Satha chandra samanana bhaya nidhe,
Sura sanchya vairi kulanthakane,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 2

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who is the son of the chief of Pramadhas, who is bold,
Who is the treasure equal to one hundred moons,
And who is the destroyer of collected enemies of devas.

Sakaladhi vinasa kovidhane,
Sanakhadhi maha muni sevithane,
Pazhani giri vasa sushobithane,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 3

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who is an expert in removing all sorrows,
Who is being served by sages like Sanaka,
And who shines living on the Pazhani Mountain.

Shikhi vahana rathna vibhooshithane,
Shubha dayaka bhaktha janarchithane,
Saranasraya papa vimochanane,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 4

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who rides on a peacock and decorates himself with gems,
Who is worshipped by devotees and grants them good things,
Who removes the sins of those surrendering to him.

Gana nayaka sodhara Sri Guhane,
Sugunathmaka nithya niramayane,
Sura bhandawa mangala dhayakane,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 5

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who is Guha the brother of Lord Ganesa,
Who is permanently good and is free of all ills,
And who is the friend of devas doing good things to them.

Kali dosha vinasa, nirmalane,
Puli vahana sodhara, vel Muruga,
Sura sanchaya sevitha, punyamathe,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 6

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who is the pure one who destroys the ills of Kali,
Who is brother of Sastha and Subrahmanya with Vel,
And who is served by all devas and has a blessed brain.

Madhananthaka nandhana, chinmyane,
Kadanapaha, bandhoora, visruthane,
Sukruthathmaka, pankaja lochanane,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 7

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who is the son of killer of God of love and is full of divinity,
Who is famous as the warrior of undulating land,
And who is dear to his friends and having a lotus like eyes.

Gananeeya charithra pavithra mathe,
Gana nayaka Manmatha sannibhane,
Rana lola, valari supoojithane,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 8

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who has a marked story and has pure thoughts,
Who is the chief of Ganas and looks like God of love,
Who is interested in war and is worshipped by peacock.

Rajaneesa kaladhara nandanane,
Kamalasana sevitha viswa pathe,
Sakalasraya bhaktha manovasathe,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 9

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who is the one who protects sun and moon,
Who is the Lord of the world served by Brahma,
And who lives in the mind of his devotees who depend on him.

Akhileswara, padma vilochanane,
Nikhilamaya nasana, Thathwamathe,
Sukhadayaka, Chinmaya charuruche,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 10

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who is the God of all, who has lotus like eyes,
Who destroys ills of the world, Who is essence of philosophy,
Who grants pleasure and has a very divine pretty form.

Vara dhayaka thathpara sreshtamathe,
Suranayaka Mangala vigrahane,
Karunakara Narada sevithane,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 11

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Who gives boons, who has great intelligence,
Who is the leader of devas, Who has a form that does good,
Who is merciful and is served by Narada.

Jaya deva dhayapara, sathgunane,
Jaya bhakthaparayana, Chinmayane,
Jaya pankaja sambhava poojithane,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 12

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Victory to God with mercy and to one who is good,
Victory to the one who looks after devotees and is fully divine,
And victory to him who is worshipped by Brahma.

Jaya bhaktha janagruha dhana mathe,
Jaya dhoorjati nandana shuddha mathe,
Jaya shathru vinasana sathyamathe,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 13

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Victory to him who blesses his devotees and is charitable,
Victory to son of Goddess Parvathi and is pure,
And victory to the killer of enemies who is the truth.

Jaya kukkuda kethana Veera, namo,
Jaya muppura vairi thanuja nama,
Jaya deena krupakara deva nama,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 14

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Victory to the hero with flag with cock, salutations,
Victory to the son of enemy of three cities, salutations,
Victory to the merciful to those who suffer, salutations.

Jaya thunga jada dhara puthra namo,
Jaya nirmala vishrutha deva nama,
Jaya kanmasha nasana dheera nama,
Paripahi parath para Shanmukha maam. 15

Please protect us, oh the most divine Shanmukha,
Victory to the son of God, who has lion like matted hair, salutations
Victory is God famous to purity, salutations,
Victory to the courageous destroyer of dirt of mind, salutations

Ajitham Jayadham varadham shubhadham,
Yathi sevya manohara shad vadanam,
Sura dhanava sevitha punyamathim,
Kalayami parathpara meesa sutham. 16

I sing about the son of the greatly divine God,
Who cannot be won, Who always wins, who blesses, who does good,
Whose six pretty faces are served by great sages,
Who is the pure one served by devas and asuras.
